I have to say I’m among those who used to believe erroneously that the DAY starts at sunset/sundown as is still believed by most Seventh-Day Adventists and various other Sabbatarian groups and individuals. When one actually reads the texts of Scripture that are usually put forward in support of the belief that the day commences at sunset (the precise time when night/darkness starts), the discerning reader can see quite easily that the sunset-to-sunset “day” is just but a theory and tradition of man which is not supported by the full volume of the Scriptures. Rather, the Scriptures teach that the DAY begins at dawn/sunrise, with the coming of light…

Take Genesis 1:5 for instance, which clearly says Elohiym called the light “DAY” and the darkness He called “NIGHT” (not evening as some assume). Then the very same Scripture goes on to say “the evening AND the morning were the first DAY.”
Now, notice this:

What is it in this very text of Scripture that Elohiym had called “DAY?” Yes, that’s right…THE LIGHT!!! Thus BOTH evening and morning are part of what Elohim called “DAY” which is DAYLIGHT TIME not Darkness. Simple enough hey? Well, apparently it’s not so clear-cut at least for some. But we have only to read what is written and say YAHmein!

– Morning, which is the first part of daylight, commences at sunrise and terminates at noon. This period of time is also called “the rising of the sun.”
– Evening or “Even” which is the second part of daytime, commences at noon and terminates at sunset. This period of time is also called “the going down of the sun.”

***People often confuse this daylight “evening” (which is generally also called afternoon), with the “Evening Watch,” which is the first watch of the night, occurring after sunset and also known as the twilight. Just as the Morning Watch is the last watch of the night.

It is my sincerest prayer that all who believe and teach the sunset to sunset theory may have occasion to review their position on this matter with an open mind. Let us permit the Scriptures to speak.
The Scriptural DAY is only 12 hours long – from sunrise to sunset. (see John 11:9).

However, a CALENDAR DATE (position in the month), is sometimes also loosely referred to even in Scripture as a “DAY.” Notice however that, whenever the Scriptures use this terminology, a NUMBER for the DATE is also usually stated within the text.

In this case, a CALENDAR DATE or “day of the month,” commences at sunrise and terminates at the next sunrise. In other words, it encompasses BOTH the DAY(light) period and the NIGHT(darkness) period.

What Does it Mean “Not Under the Law”?

Speaking to Christians, Paul said, “…if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law” (Gal. 5:18). Also speaking to Christians, he said, “…you are not under the law but under grace” (Rom.6:14).

What did Paul mean by these statements? Did he mean, as most churches teach, that God’s law does not apply to Christians?
First of all, we must understand what “sin” is. The definition of “sin” is given in I John 3:4—“sin IS the transgression of the law” (KJV). Likewise, in Rom.6:16, “sin” is shown to be the opposite of “obedience.”

But obedience to what? Transgression of what law? Paul answers this in the seventh chapter of Romans. There, he said, “I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, ‘You shall not covet’” (verse 7, NIV). Plainly, the “law” Paul is referring to is the Ten Commandments.

A few verses later, Paul said that “the law is spiritual” (verse 14). Therefore, it is the transgression of God’s spiritual law—as summarized by the Ten Commandments—that constitutes “sin.” That’s what sin is—disobeying God’s spiritual law!
Now that we know what sin is, is there a penalty imposed by God for our sinning—for our disobeying His spiritual law? Both the Old and New Testaments reveal that the penalty for sin is death! “The soul that sins shall die” (Ezek.18:4). “For the wages of sin is death” (Rom.6:23).

Furthermore, we are told that “ALL have sinned” (Rom.3:23). Therefore, all who have ever lived (except Jesus Christ) have sinned and earned the death penalty! “…death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Rom.5:12).

When the Bible speaks of “salvation” or “being saved,” it’s speaking of being saved from the death penalty. And unless we are saved from the death penalty, then eternal death is what awaits us!

“Salvation” is the granting of life after death, as a glorified, spirit being—eternal life in the Kingdom of God.
Notice now the entirety of the scripture which we just partially cited: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom.6:23).

Jesus Christ never sinned. He never earned the death penalty. Yet, He paid the death penalty in our stead! And it was because of the fact that His life is worth more than the sum total of all people who have ever lived, that His death could pay the penalty for all mankind.
Yet, this is what many people don’t understand: The Bible clearly shows that Christ’s sacrifice is not automatically applied to everyone! Rather, there are two conditions that a person must fulfill in order for Christ’s sacrifice to be applied to that individual: (1) You must accept Christ as your personal Savior (John 3:16), and (2) you must repent—i.e., turn from your past way of life (Rom.6:3-6) and make an unconditional surrender to God (Luke 4:4; 22:42) that you will henceforth strive (Luke 13:24)—with the help of the Holy Spirit in you—to live in accordance with God’s spiritual law, as summarized by the Ten Commandments (Matt.19:16-19; 7:21-23; 13:41-43).

Now, regarding these two conditions for Christ’s sacrifice to be applied to a person, most church-goers accept the first condition, but reject the condition of repentance (and what true repentance is). Yet, notice these two scriptures: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). “But IF we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (I John 1:7). So here we see that it’s only IF we walk in the light—IF we “walk in newness of life” and are no longer “slaves of sin” (Rom.6: 4,6)—no longer slaves of transgressing God’s law (I John 3:4)—it’s only then that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us!

So, let’s now answer the question posed at the beginning of this article: What did Paul mean when he said that a Christian is “not under the law but under grace”?

He meant that a Christian is not under the penalty of the law! A Christian is one who has fulfilled the two conditions of accepting Christ and turning his life unto obedience to God’s law. And having fulfilled those conditions, Christ’s sacrifice is then applied TO that individual. The person is then under grace—divine pardon from the death penalty. His sins are forgiven—blotted out (Acts 3:19).
Christ’s blood pays the death penalty in that person’s stead. That person had earned the death penalty, by transgressing God’s law. But the penalty has now been paid, and so the individual is no longer under the penalty of the law; he’s no longer “under the law,” as Paul phrased it. He’s now under grace (divine pardon).

People think that Rom.6:14 does away with the law; but if they would just read the very next verse—verse 15—they would see that when you come under grace, you are not then free to transgress God’s law: “What then? Shall we sin [transgress God’s law] because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” answered Paul (verse 15).

Consider this. Suppose that you had been caught stealing something, and you were brought to trial. The judge decides that in this case, he’s going to pardon you. Do you then think to yourself, “Wow, there’s no longer a law against stealing!”?
Did the judge do away with the law, or did he only do away with the penalty in your case? If stealing was unrighteous before you were forgiven, then isn’t it still unrighteous (Ps.119:172)? Has the definition of moral and immoral changed? Again, Paul said that “BY the law is the knowledge of sin” (Rom. 3:20). (Also Rom. 7:7 and Matt. 13:41-43)

Why is it that people believe that the law which defines righteous and moral behavior has been done away?! A law that is of such paramount importance, that God sent His only begotten Son to DIE, as payment for our breaking that law?!
God’s spiritual law is the way to a happy and fulfilling life! Why would He do away with such a law?!

Finally, let’s realize that the Apostle Paul totally advocated the keeping of God’s spiritual law! Paul fully realized that God’s spiritual law applies to Christians!

Problem with the Gregorian Calendar

Problem with the Gregorian calendar.

For those who are observing His appointed times (Apppointed means fixed) from month to month using the calendar presented to us in the Bible, you will quickly realise that the Sabbath is an appointed time. Fixed seven work days apart and separated by New moon days.

When one uses a continual calendar (be it Gregorian or just a continual 7 day week) you use the sun as the guide for your day, week, month and year. That is why it is called a solar year.

The Bible however used the Moon for the months and Years. Thirteen months in some years (e.g. Ezekiel chapter 1 through to the end of chapter can only be calculated by using the thirteenth month). The feasts are still calculated using the Moon.

The creator gives us one calendar to use, not two. and herein is the problem for those using a lunar and a solar calendar.

We know that he created the Moon for the appointed times. The Sabbath is the first appointed time.

To send this point home, one just needs to realise that the days as determined using the lunar calendar are not the same as the days when using the solar calendar. This can be seen when one compares when a biblical feast starts each year. Upon the Gregorian calendar it moves from year to year, whilst upon the Biblical calendar which uses the moon, the feast remains upon the same time each year.

So lets use the Feast of trumpets as an example. It is upon the first day of the seventh biblical moon (month). The month starts with the sighting of the New Moon. This DIFFERS depending upon where on earth you live and does NOT line up with the man made international date line. This very fact should be making you think.

If the cycles of the Moon do not line up with the international date line, and the Bible used the Moon to calculate the appointed times, then the appointed times will overlap the Gregorian calendar. That is they will cover two days.

How? If for example in Australia it is the 24th of September and the new moon is not sighted, but in America, and the new moon is sighted, then the New moon day will start one day ahead of what it starts in Australia.

In America New Moon day will start upon the 25th, and the New Moon will be seen in Australia upon the 25th, placing New Moon day upon the 26th.

The issue can bee seen first hand when one looks as what happened in Samoa to the SDA church when they moved the man made date line. The date went forward casing some to worship ion Sunday and others keep with the traditional Saturday, even though they are a day out of their 7 day cycle.

Its time to wake up people and realise that your calendar for calculating you appointed times is wrong.

Gentiles – Keeping the Sabbath

Isaiah 56

6 Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—

Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
Will be accepted on My altar;
For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says,
“Yet I will gather to him
Others besides those who are gathered to him.”

The Sabbath day – Are we still supposed to hold it?

Q: What is the definition of sin?

A: The definition of sin is to trangress Yahuwahs Law.

Q: But isn’t the Law just given to the Israelites?

A:
Matthew 2:
27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Romans 3
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Q: Is it against the Law for Gentiles to keep the Sabbath?

A: If they want to become israelites they can. The covenanant of Yahuwah was given to Israel.

Q: Who was the new covenant given to?
A: The whole world

Romans 11

16 For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. 17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, 18 do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.

19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” 20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. 21 For if  Yahuwah did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. 22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of Yahuwah: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

If we are grafted into the same tree, we are also under the ten commandments.
